A funeral service for Ronald D. Ronhovde will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Jan Gluth King officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, with military honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Team.

Ronald Dale Ronhovde, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Ron was born on June 15, 1944, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the third of nine children, born to John A. and Mary (Williams) Ronhovde. Ron was raised on the family Dairy Farm near Eagle. He received his education and graduated from Eagle Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1962.

On May 27, 1965, Ron was inducted into the United States Air Force.  He served as a mechanic in Thailand and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1969. Ron returned to the family Dairy Farm, where he worked alongside his family until 1978.

On September 16, 1972, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Enquist at Bethel Lutheran Church, and to this union, two children were born: Carrie and Kirk. The family moved to the farm southeast of Holdrege in 1978, where Ron engaged in farming and was especially proud to work alongside his son, Kirk. In 2010, the couple moved into Holdrege.

Ron was very active in his children's and grandchildren's lives, whether it was attending their concerts or other activities. He enjoyed going to the Coffee Cup Café in Funk. With Ron's love of music, he participated in the 1733 Barbershop Chorus and the Bethel Lutheran Church Choir.

He was a faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities through the years. He was also a member of the Funk Lions Club and was on the board for Midland Coop and Farm Bureau.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Russell and Lorraine Enquist; sister-in-law, Gayla Enquist; two brothers-in-law: Les Corr; and Geoff Schneider; and two nephews, Nathan Morrow; and Brian Corr.

He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife Kathryn of Holdrege; his daughter, Carrie Veal and her husband, Todd of Holdrege; his son, Kirk and his wife, Jodi of rural Holdrege; four grandchildren: Lindsay and  Zane Veal of Holdrege; and Kooper and Penelope Ronhovde of rural Holdrege; eight siblings: Bev Mach and her husband, Don; Jerry Ronhovde and his wife, Jean; Marcia Corr; Jack Ronhovde and his wife, Janet; Jeanette Schneider; Jim Ronhovde and his wife, Grace; Tom Ronhovde and his wife, Sue; Rick Ronhovde and his wife, Lois; brother-in-law, Arlan Enquist of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Janice Morrow and her husband, Dave of Hastings, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Ron's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for a later designation.
