A funeral service for Ronny M. Latter will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment will follow at the Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska with Military honors provided by the Wilcox American Legion Post #377, in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Ronny Martin "Ron" Latter, 73 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away on September 27, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born on December 26, 1949 in Minden, the youngest of four children, born to Lorenz Martin and Mabel Alice (Golay) Latter. He was baptized in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, that is now in the Pioneer Village in Minden. In 1959, the family moved to Wilcox, where he received his education, graduating with the class of 1968.

He then pursued higher education at Hastings Technical College and began working at Wink Implement in Elm Creek, Nebraska.

On January 19, 1971, Ron was drafted into the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. As Rank of SP4, he was stationed at Long Binh, and issued all major vehicles and equipment. He received the Army Commendation Medal. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Spelts-Swanson John Deere Implement in Kearney, Nebraska.

On December 1, 1973, he was united in marriage to Monica Feusner at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox. This union was blessed with four children: Jeffrey, Craig, Rachel, and Jolene. In April of 1974, the family purchased Johnsen Gas Station in Wilcox to begin Latter Repair.  In April of 1976, the couple later built a new shop and and became the second largest Exmark dealer in the state of Nebraska, which developed many lasting friendships. In 1992, Ron and Monica started South Central Sanitation as a small family business and were proud to have their children, Craig and Jolene take over operations in 2019.

In Ron's spare time, he loved to spend time with his family and attend all of his grandchildren's activities.

He was a devoted member of the Wilcox Fire Department, where he served as past Fire Chief and Ambulance Chief for over 30 years, and was in the original EMT class for the department. He was also a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, served on the Wilcox School Board, and served 20 years as a member of the Kearney County Selective Service Board. Ron was also a 50-year member of the American Legion Post #377 in Wilcox and the VFW Post #6016, and also a member of the the National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

Ron was preceded in death by parents; his father-in-law, Darrel Feusner; and brother-in-law, Eldon Hueftle.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Monica of Wilcox; his children: Jeffrey Latter of Gresham, Oregon; Craig Latter and his wife, Stacy of Funk, Nebraska; Rachel Newell and her husband, Bradley of Kearney; and Jolene Latter and her fiance, Jace Kluver of Holdrege; eight grandchildren: Aiden Newell, Alec Newell, Whitney Latter, Josie Latter, Leighton Latter, Collin Latter, Jonah Kluver, and Asher Kluver; brother, Larry Latter and his wife, Debra of Wilcox; two sisters: Joanne Hueftle of Holdrege; and Joyce Woodman and her husband, Larry of Kenesaw, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Gloria Feusner of Holdrege; two brothers-in-law: Scott Feusner of Holdrege; and Randy Feusner of Holdrege; along with many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Ron's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
