Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary Reiter will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Thomas Lux as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Rosemary Reiter, 87 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born on a farm near David City, Nebraska on July 5, 1932, the fifth of nine children born to Leo and Anita (Koeller) Meysenburg. She attended a small Catholic school at Marietta, Nebraska, graduating with the class of 1948.

Following high school, Rosemary was employed for a year at a shirt factory in Columbus, Nebraska. She then attended Wayne State Teachers College for two years. Then in 1952, she moved to Holdrege where she taught 5 th grade at Lincoln Elementary School for three years. While there, she also taught music to the First through Eighth grades.

On August 23, 1954, Rosemary was united in marriage to John Oliver Reiter at Presentation Catholic Church, that Rosemary's great-grandparents help establish and donated the land for it to be built, north of David City, Nebraska, and to this union eight children were born: Michael, Bernard, Mary, Annette, Steven, Leah, Susan and Jane; and they also raised one foster daughter, Cindy. The family resided in Holdrege where Rosemary later taught 5 th grade at Franklin Elementary School, while finishing her BA in Education. Later, she received a Master's Degree in Special Education. She then taught 5 th grade Resource at the Holdrege Middle School until her retirement. After retiring from Holdrege Public Schools, she continued teaching part-time at Central Community College in Holdrege.

Rosemary began playing the pipe organ at Presentation Church at the age of 15, and she continued to play the organ for All Saints Catholic Church for 50 years. Rosemary was also active in the Elks Club Scholarship Program, the Legion of Mary, was active in Bible Study and she helped with the programs at the Tassel of Performing Arts in Holdrege. She was also a Cub Scout leader for the Boy Scouts program for several years.  Rosemary enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, canning, and sewing.

Besides her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by: two daughters:  Susan Reiter and Annette Krukemeyer; husband, John O. Reiter on October 18, 2004; two grandchildren: Carlin Proctor; and Ezra Lempke; two brothers:  Thomas and Jerome Meysenburg; seven sisters-in-law:  Pat, Eva, Barbara, and Mary Meysenburg; Marlene Reiter; Joanna Denson; and Monica Slevin; and three brother-in-law, George "Thomas" Reiter; Van Hardy; and William Reiter.

Rosemary leaves to celebrate her life; her three sons:  Michael Reiter of New Mexico; Bernard Reiter and his wife, Robin of Baltimore, Maryland; and Steven Reiter and his wife, Julie of Bellwood, Nebraska; three daughters:  Mary Celeste Lempke and her husband, David of Wallace, Nebraska; Leah Marie Proctor and her husband, Jeff of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and Jane Barber and her husband, Scott of Worthington, Minnesota; son-in-law, Richard Krukemeyer of Gothenburg, Nebraska; foster daughter, Cindy Stubbs and her husband, Cray of Minden, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five brothers:  Richard Meysenburg of Illinios; Leo Meysenburg of Omaha, Nebraska; Arnold Meysenburg and his wife, Helen of Lee Summit, Missouri; James Meysenburg of Baltimore, Maryland; and Victor Meysenburg of Maplewood, Minnesota; one sister:  Julianne Hardy of Davenport, Iowa; one brother-in-law:  Robert Reiter of Valencia, California; one sister-in-law:  Elizabeth Meysenburg of David City; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Rosemary's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
