Roxana "Roxie" (Marshall) Lind, 93 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Funk and Holdrege, Nebraska) passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the Mother Hull Nursing Home in Kearney. She was born July 26, 1916 on the family farm in Williamsburg Township in Phelps County, Nebraska, the fourth of five children born to Oliver B. and Cassie (Kedey) Marshall. She was baptized at Williamsburg United Methodist Church and was later confirmed at Fridhem Lutheran Church.

Roxie received her primary education at Dist. #76 and then attended Holdrege High School, where she graduated with the class of 1933. After her education, she worked as a sales person in Holdrege at J.M. McDonald's and Montgomery Ward until her marriage.

On October 2, 1938, Roxie was united in marriage to Carl V. Lind. The couple had two daughters: Julie Ann and Janet Kay. As a farm wife, Roxie managed the household and family finances and cooked many meals for harvesting crews. After a devastating hail storm that destroyed the couple's corn crop in 1967 she took a job sewing draperies for The Decorating Shop in Holdrege.

When the couple retired from farming in 1979 they moved to Holdrege, where Roxie volunteered at the Hospital Service League, Bloodmobile and Meals-on-Wheels. She spent many hours sewing quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief. Her hobbies were growing flowers and sewing. Roxie was an active member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church until she moved to Kearney in 2005. She will be remembered for her strength of faith, her caring nature and devotion to family.

Roxie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl on October 20, 2004; daughter, Julie; three sisters: Inez Marshall, Harriet Dahlstet and Roberta Lundstrom; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Marshall.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter: Janet Fox and her husband, Jerald of Kearney; four grandchildren: Carl L. McKinney and his wife, Renee of Gilbert, Arizona, Robyn Houston and her husband, James of Redlands, CA, Gregory Fox of Kearney and Javier Fox of Kansas City, KS; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold Marshall of Kearney; eight nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
