Funeral Services for Roy C. "Skipper" Fuchs will be conducted from the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Wes Holen, officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery with military rites provided by the Oxford American Legion Post #219 in conjunction with Nebraska Army National Guard Military Honors Team.
Roy Carl "Skipper" Fuchs, 64 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born October 24, 1945 at Oxford, the son of Orville Carl and Ethel (Blincow) Fuchs. Skip received his education at Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1964. Following his education, Skip engaged in farming and ranching with his father and continued to make this his life-long career. After Skip was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, he continued to strive to live an active life as long as his health permitted.
On January 22, 1972 he was united in marriage to Rita Faye Runyan and the couple made their home in the Oxford area where they raised their three children: Kevin, Cindi and Clint. Skip committed his life to his family and loved planning special outings which included hunting, fishing, boating as well as many other activities. He loved the time spent as a family during their tradition of having Thanksgiving at Estes Park, Colorado.
Throughout the years he enjoyed attending the Evangelical Free Church of Oxford, loved to shoot trap, and as a hobby, Skip enjoyed rebuilding Corvettes in his free time. He was a past member of the Rural Fire Board.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rita of rural Oxford; his three children: Kevin Fuchs and his wife, Sheri of rural Oxford, Cindi Barto and her husband, Tim of Kearney, Nebraska, and Clint Fuchs and his wife, Trish of Lincoln, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren: Mattie and Daniel Fuchs, Emalee and Alex Barto, and McKinley and Evan Fuchs; sister, Gail Shafer of Sterling, Colorado; brother, Howard Fuchs of Arapahoe, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Bobby Page; and sister, Marilyn Benjamin.
Visitation will be held at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
