Funeral Services for Ruth Ann (Dunn) Potter will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Reverend Craig Cedar officiating. Interment will be held at the Freewater Cemetery, southwest of Wilcox.

Ruth Ann Potter, 97 years of age, of North Platte, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox and Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Linden Court in North Platte. She was born July 3, 1919, on the family farm south of Wilcox, to John and Tena (Seyler) Dunn. As a toddler, she moved with her family to a farm south of Naponee, Nebraska. She attended rural school and then Naponee High School, graduating with the class of 1935.

She continued her education at Kearney Normal School and earned a rural school teaching certificate. She taught at three Buffalo County rural schools, including Lower Buckeye and Buda, and then was a civilian clerk at the Kearney Air Base.

On August 20, 1944, she married Dean Potter of Wilcox at the First Presbyterian Church in Kearney. They lived on the Potter family farm south of Wilcox until moving into town in the fall of 1974. Dean preceded her in death on June 25, 1996.  Ruth moved to Kearney's Northridge Retirement Community in April 2001 and then relocated to North Platte in July 2015.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: James on August 6, 2016, and Glen on July 17, 2012; and her brother, Howard Dunn.

Survivors include her twin daughters: Lisa Parish and her husband, Jim of North Platte and Lori Potter of Kearney; seven grandchildren: Shelly Garrett and her husband, Mike of  Hildreth, Nebraska, Sheila Horak and her husband, Shaun of Omaha, Nebraska, Scott Potter and his wife, Shantell of Atwood, Colorado, Philip Parish of Denver, Colorado, Andrew Parish of Camp Pendleton, California and Zachary Parish and Mitchell Parish of North Platte; eight great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Gail DeBuse Potter of Lincoln, Nebraska and Lois Potter of Wilcox; sister-in-law, Wilma Dunn of North Platte; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.

A memorial has been established in Ruth's honor and kindly suggested to the Wilcox Community Church.
