Ruth A Ehrke

An Open House for Ruth A. Ehrke will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford, Nebraska.

Ruth Anne Ehrke, 35 years of age, of Oxford, died on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Ruth was born September 5, 1981 in North Platte, Nebraska, the youngest of two daughters.

Ruth leaves behind two boys who inspired her more than any other force in her life, Isaak McPhillamy and Nathan McPhillamy.

Ruth was a bright star and a black hole; irreverence was her creed.  There is no way to capture in words the ferocity and gregariousness with which she lived.

No one who met Ruth will forget her laugh. No one will forget her smile. No one will forget her volume.

Ruth's untimely death was in some part due to substance abuse and addiction as she journeyed with mental illness.  Ruth, and the many people that loved her, searched to no avail for treatment and strategies.  Ruth fought to understand her illness and embraced who she was without shame.

A memorial has been established in Ruthie's honor and kindly suggested to an education fund for her sons, Isaak and Nathan McPhillamy.

Expressions of caring and kindness can be sent to the family at www.nelsonbauerfh.com

The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of the arrangements.
