Ruth M. Falk

Celebration of Life Service for Ruth M. Falk will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Scott Hecht officiating.  Interment will be held in the Salem Cemetery in rural Axtell, Nebraska following the services.

Ruth Miriam Falk went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at the Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 15, 1920, to Milo and Clara (Wedberg) Hull. She attended and graduated from Lucy Flower High School, and continued her education at Wright Junior College, and Moody Bible Institute. She became a Dental Assistant while living in Chicago, and was employed in that position until moving to Nebraska with her husband in 1943.

Ruth was united in marriage to Orville Falk on May 30, 1942, at the Cuyler Covenant Church in Chicago and to this union they were blessed with four children: Miriam, David, Timothy, and Daniel.  After Orville's graduation from seminary, she left her childhood home in Chicago to begin her life's journey with her husband. Their church homes included: the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church near Funk, NE; the Moses Hill Covenant Church near Holdrege; Trade River Evangelical Free Church near Grantsburg, WI; Cowdrey Covenant Church, Cowdrey, CO; First Baptist Church in Arnold, NE; Hackney Baptist Church near Winfield, KS; and Faith Baptist Church, Luck, WI.  As a minister's wife, Ruth was a gracious partner that assisted her husband with numerous activities whenever needed.  Because of her friendliness and hospitality, their home was always a welcoming place for friends and relatives.  Music was a large part of her life and she used her piano playing to serve the Lord.  Ruth actively participated in choir, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Church Women's Organizations. Her Christian ministry continued well after retirement, where she spent enjoyable winters with her husband in the Rio Grand Valley in Texas. By then, she had touched the lives of others from Wisconsin to Texas. Ruth was a devoted wife for 67 years, until Orville's death in 2009.

In her Christian walk, she dearly loved her family and friends.  Along with raising a family, she had provided care in their home for her mother and later for Orville's mother. In addition, Ruth was very interested in researching the details of the sinking of the SS Central America, where her great-grandfather perished in 1857.

Ruth trusted Christ as her personal Savior at the young age of eleven, and spent the rest of her life living for Him.  Even in her 90's, Ruth touched other lives by playing hymns, attending Bible studies, quoting bible verses and bringing joy and a friendly smile into many lives.  Not only her grandchildren, but her great-grandchildren, were blessed by getting to know her unique personality and her faith.  Ruth shared her smiles and sunshine disposition to everyone with whom she came in contact. The last 10 years of her life were spent living at Orchard Park Retirement Community in Lincoln, where she was loved and tenderly cared for.  Whenever her health allowed, she also enjoyed attending Heartland Bible Church in Lincoln.

Besides her parents and her beloved husband, Rev. Orville Falk; Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, James Wendell Hull; grandson, Shaun Falk; great-granddaughter, Paige Miller; brothers-in-law: Carroll Falk and his wife, Leona; and Rev. Dale Falk; sister-in-law: Beulah Falk; and nephews: Melvin Falk and Harry Falk.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her four children: Miriam Bede and her husband, Gregg of Lincoln; David Falk and his wife, Mary of Grantsburg, WI; Timothy Falk of Lincoln; and Daniel Falk and his wife, Rachel of Bella Vista, AR.  She was blessed during her life with 16 grandchildren:  Mark (Stephanie) Miller; John (Michelle) Miller; James (Dawn) Miller; Mitch (Kim) Thomason; Carrie Peper; Tonya (Tim) Crombie; Shaun Falk; Charles Falk; Andrew (Kaity) Falk; Wendy (Jason) Fjorden; Nathan (Erin) Falk; Trena (Chad) Cantrell; Cody Falk; Ericka Steinbach; Janell (Andrew) Milner; Kevin Falk; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Rev. Maynard Falk of Holdrege; and Rev. Robert Falk and his wife, Doris of Sun City, AZ; sister-in-law, Glaura Falk of Omaha, NE; and several dearly loved nieces and nephews.
