Funeral Services for Ruth E. Potter will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church in Naponee, Nebraska with Pastors Rob Stewart and Scott Randall officiating. Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery, at Alma, Nebraska.

Ruth Elaine Potter, 95 years of age, of Bloomington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, Kansas. Ruth was born May 17, 1924, in Alma, the youngest of five children born to Frank and Nina (Clement) Middagh. She was baptized at the Alma Christian Church in 1936. Ruth received her education from Alma Public Schools, graduating from Alma High School with the class of 1941.

On August 11, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage to Leslie Eugene Potter at the Alma Congregational Evangelical Free Church by the Reverend Marion S. Hoffsommer. Leslie and Ruth began to make their home one mile southeast of Alma until 1952, when they relocated to a farm southwest of Bloomington, where they engaged in farming and raising livestock in Franklin County until their retirement in 1987. Following retirement, Leslie and Ruth stayed on the farm, where they resided the remainder of their married life. The couple celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary in 2013.

Ruth worked at Petrey's Café and J.C.Penny. She was a devoted member of the Naponee Wesleyan Church, where she taught Sunday school; played the piano; and was active with the Mission Society, especially, Wesleyan World International.

She was preceded in death by; her parents; four brothers: Warren G. Middagh in infancy; Jack Middagh and wife, Lesta; Paul Middagh and wife, Rae; and Floyd Middagh and wife, Margaret; and her husband, Leslie Potter on January 20, 2014.

Those left to cherish her memory include; her children: William "Bill" Potter and his wife, Eunice of Kearney, Nebraska; three daughters: Shirley Brown and her husband, Wayne of Topeka, Kansas; Linda Potter of Waxhaw, North Carolina; and Barbara Stewart and her husband, Reverend Rob Stewart of Clay Center, Kansas; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; along with nephews, nieces, other relatives, and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7: 30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Ruth's honor and kindly suggested to the Wycliffe Bible Translators - Ashaninca Old Testament Project.
