Sandra M. Schepler

A funeral service for Sandra M. Schepler will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating.

A private family inurnment will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Minden Cemetery in Minden, Nebraska.

Sandra Mae Schepler, 83 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska formerly of Wilcox passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society – St. John's in Kearney. Sandra was born on April 11, 1940, in Wayne, Nebraska, the youngest of three children, to Henry and Edith (Brammer) Wieting. She was baptized, confirmed, and attended parochial school at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Nebraska. Sandra enjoyed spending the summers with her relatives and cousins on the farm in the Wakefield and Wayne area. Later her parents moved to Axtell, Nebraska where she graduated from Axtell High School with the class of 1957 and met Merle.

On June 27, 1958, Sandra Wieting was united in marriage to Merle Leon Schepler and the couple were blessed with five children: Bruce Ryan, Kevin Lee, Tamara Jo, Carla Mae, and Kyle Robert. She was an active mom in school and helped with church activities. Sandra was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox. She worked babysitting, selling Avon, then at Becton Dickenson in Holdrege until Merle's passing. After retiring from Becton Dickinson, she decided to return to work at Walmart where she worked in the Bakery Department and as a Door Greeter.

Sandra enjoyed socializing with family, friends, coworkers, and people in the community. The moments she had visiting with dear friends and family over a cup of coffee. Her favorite time was with Merle going together for work or just on a Sunday small-town tour. She treasured the Holidays when she liked to decorate and spend time with her grandchildren. They loved to bake cookies and she made sure everyone had their favorite.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Schepler; her parents, Henry and Edith (Brammer) Wieting; two sisters: Delores Wright and her husband Don; and Glennie Peterson Zoeller and her husbands, Don and John; a nephew, Jason Thomas Peterson; a niece, Carmel Sue Peterson; and two brothers-in-law; Gene Richardson; and Gene Schepler and his wife, Connie.

Those memories live on through, her children: Bruce Schepler and his wife, Laurie of Wilcox; Kevin Schepler and his wife, Maria of Axtell; Tammy Tschabrun and her husband Kevin of Hildreth, Nebraska; Carla Schepler of Kearney, Nebraska; and Kyle Schepler of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Jessica Heinsen and her husband, Curtis; Matthew Schepler; Kelsey and her husband, Evan Wiegman; Taylor Ritter; Kendra Ritter; Shane Ritter; Justin Bunger; Tyler Bunger and his wife Lacey; three great-grandchildren: Lucas Heinsen; Madison Bunger; and one on the way; one sister-in-law, Sharon Richardson and her special friend, Marvin; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Schepler and his wife, Judy; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Sandra's honor, and is kindly suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox or to Lutheran Ministries.
