Sandra Kay "Sandy" Porter, 66 years of age, of Stamford, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at her home in Stamford. Sandy was born September 21, 1944 at Kansas City, Missouri, the fourth of five children born to William H. and Nadine M. (Parker) Austin. With her father's career in the military, Sandy grew up in several communities throughout the United States. She resided in Lawrenceville, Georgia for several years and then moved to Pearl, Mississippi, where she was employed as a nurse's aide. While in Pearl, she met Phill Porter and they were united in marriage on May 12, 1978. The couple was blessed with two children: Richard and PJ. The family moved to Brookhaven, Mississippi, where they resided for eight years before relocating to Stamford in 1994, where she became the third generation to reside in her family home. While in Stamford, she enjoyed helping out at the Stamford Café.

As a child, Sandy loved horses and specialized in trick riding and later in life she enjoyed painting, crocheting and woodworking. She was a people person, and will be remembered for her practical jokes toward family and friends.

Besides her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Austin.
