Scott Kugler

A memorial service for Scott A. Kugler will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. An inurnment will be held at the Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska, at a future time.

Scott Allen Kugler, 56 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, as a result of a vehicle-train accident near Axtell, Nebraska. Scott was born in Greeley, Colorado on May 22, 1969, the eldest of three sons, born to Terry and Judy (Case) Kugler. He received his education from Bertrand Public Schools in Bertrand, and graduated with the class of 1988.  During his time in high school, he was active with football, basketball, and track.

Scott worked at a feed mill at Holdrege until it closed.  He then began working as a Site Manager for Helena Chemical Company in Holdrege for the last 8 years.

On July 12, 2008, Scott was united in marriage to Nikki Jo Ihde at North Park in Holdrege, Nebraska in and together they raised a daughter: Danielle. The couple made their home in Bertrand, later moving out in the country. Together they enjoyed trips, spending time with family and rescuing dogs and cats.

Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, his German Shorthair dogs and German Wirehair dogs, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren: Ian and Savannah; and nephews: Daniel, John, and Seth.

Scott was preceded in death by his dad, Terry Kugler in 2024; his grandparents:  Theodore "Max" and Beulah (Robb) Kugler; and Robert and Lila (Lorenz) Case; and an aunt, Myrna L. (Robb) Osborne.

Scott is survived by his wife, Nikki Kugler of rural Bertrand; daughter, Danielle Kunert and husband, Jeremy of Exeter, Nebraska; grandson: Ian Kunert; granddaughter, Savannah; his mom, Judy Kugler of Bertrand; brothers:  Robert Kugler and his wife, Joey of Bertrand; and Bill Kugler of Kearney; nephews and niece:  Taylor Kugler and wife, Tasha Doolittle-Kugler of Port Orchard, Washington; Jared Kugler and wife, Allie Novak-Kugler of Holdrege; Elizabeth Kugler of Bertrand; Daniel of Lincoln; John, and Seth of York, Nebraska; father-in-law, Rickey Ihde of Lincoln, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Ida Ihde of Bertrand; sister-in-law:  Toni Miller and husband, Lloyd of Humboldt; along with other relatives, and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Scott's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
