Celebration of Life for Scott W. Schneider will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, in rural Axtell; 903  25 Road, Axtell, Nebraska, with Pastors Baron and Nancy Cole officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell.

Scott William Schneider, 40 years of age, of Jarvie, Alberta, Canada, (formerly of rural Funk, Nebraska), left us much too early on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from injuries sustained in an airplane accident near Gunn, Alberta, Canada.

Scott was born August 6, 1978, in Kearney, Nebraska, the eldest of two children born to Al and Jan (Steinke) Schneider. He received his education from Axtell High School and graduated with the class of 1997. Scott then continued to further his education, receiving his Bachelor's degree in Business Ag from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He was an avid long distance runner from middle school all the way through college, and even into his working years. He kept the tradition of being able to place in the State Track Meet, as his Grandpa Schneider did in 1930, his father did in 1962, and then himself in 1994.

Scott was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church of Axtell where he was a life-long member. He enjoyed Sunday School and youth fellowship and other church activities. No matter where his work took him, he always found a church to attend. Just as religion was important to Scott, so were his friends and family.

His first job took him to several towns while working for Bartlett Grain Company. Scott always yearned to be in the farming business, so he moved back to his hometown of Funk, and pursued this passion. Five years later, he accepted a position with the Alborn Construction Co. in Anchorage, Alaska. After three years, itching to get back into agriculture, he relocated to Jarvie, where he was a farm manager.

While in Alaska, he developed a great interest in flying, and pursued his private pilot's license.  He completed this process in Canada, and enjoyed the feeling of freedom while flying.

In addition, Scott had other numerous interests and hobbies that included photography, fishing, snow skiing, collecting antiques, woodworking, cars, and listening to music. His nieces, Olivia and Mariah, brought him great joy. He also loved his dogs, "Bella," a St. Bernard and "Gus," a Chocolate Lab who was with him at the time of the accident.

Those who knew Scott, will remember his wonderful smile and contagious laugh. He got along with everyone, and loved to be around his family and friends. Many memories of Scott will be cherished forever. He did not know a stranger, and always seemed to be able to find a common interest with everyone he met. Whether it was from his hometown of Funk, or those he met in his work and travels, he was loved by many, both near and far.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Walter and Lucile Steinke, and Francis and Myrtle Schneider.

Scott leaves to celebrate his life, his parents: Al and Jan Schneider of rural Funk; sister, Stephanie Bruntz and her husband, Josh of Kearney; nieces: Olivia and Mariah Bruntz of Kearney; his uncles and aunts: Dwight and Brenda Schneider of Funk, and Bill and Kathy Steinke of Culbertson, Nebraska; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Axtell, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
