Memorial Graveside Services for Selma "Sherry" Nicholson will be held at a later date at the Draper Cemetery in Draper, South Dakota.
Selma "Sherry" Mae Nicholson, 84 years of age, of Pierce, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska and Sturgis, South Dakota) passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Pierce Manor in Pierce. She was born September 3, 1922 in Draper, South Dakota, one of seven children of Wilber and Dora (Roush) Sherwood. Sherry received her primary education from a country school near DeGrey, South Dakota and later Pierre, South Dakota. Following her education, she worked as a housekeeper for several families. Sherry then moved to Long Beach, California where she was employed at Douglas Air Craft. In 1994, she moved to Sturgis, South Dakota until moving to Holdrege in 2003.
Sherry was a member of the Moose Club in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and volunteered at the Sturgis Senior Citizen Center. She also enjoyed volunteering for many various activities, which included the Rally at Sturgis.
She leaves to mourn her passing four sisters: Helen Metzinger, Sherry's twin sister Thelma Mattheis and her husband, Ewald and Barbara Thimsen all of Pierre, South Dakota and Beverly Rupkalvis and her husband, Duane of Holdrege, Nebraska and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Marion in infancy; two sisters: Chrystal Mattheis and her husband, Milbert and Ida Streigel and her husband, Claude; one brother-in-law, Arthur Metzinger and two nephews: Jay Streigel and Delaun Rupkalvis and one niece, Norma Clinch.
Memorials have been established in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
