Memorial Services for Sharon I. Wolzen will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Hunt, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hendley Cemetery at Hendley, Nebraska.
Sharon Irene "Sha" Wolzen, 68 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Sharon was born July 13, 1938 in Red Willow County, near Lebanon, Nebraska, the youngest of six children of Francis "Lloyd" and Elsie Alfreda (Gay) McCashland. She received her education at Lebanon, graduating from Lebanon High School with the class of 1956.
Following her education, Sharon was united in marriage to Charles E. Wolzen at McCook, Nebraska and to this union one son, Francis Charles "Chas" Wolzen was born. Francis Charles lived only two weeks. The couple made their home in Oxford. Sharon was employed as a bookkeeper for various businesses and later worked at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege from 1975 until her retirement in 2000.
She had a special place in her heart for animals, enjoyed yard work, reading, cooking, birdwatching and loved listening to Elvis Presley hymns. Sharon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford.
She leaves to mourn her passing her two brothers-in-law: Lawrence Orvis of McCook and Elton O'Hare of Oberlin, Kansas; special friend, Don Ekberg of Holdrege and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her son, she was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Betty Jo Orvis and her husband, George, Glenva Orvis, Mildred O'Hare, Vada Huntsman and her husband, Sam and Donna Hardin and her husband, Rod.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Sharon's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
