A Memorial Service for Shirley E. (Jensen) Norberg will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Christian Homes Chapel at Holdrege, Nebraska, with Mr. Dave Thorell officiating.

A private interment will be held prior to the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

Shirley Elaine (Jensen) Norberg, 95 years of age, of Funk, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Christian Homes Care Community, Holdrege.  Shirley was born southwest of Wilcox, Nebraska, in Harlan County, Nebraska, on July 27, 1929, the second of three children, born to William H. and Cloie Olive (Woollen) Jensen.  She attended District #28 Country School in Harlan County then received her secondary education from Wilcox High School with the class of 1946.  Shirely pursued higher education from the Grand Island Business College for one year.

Shirley worked as a secretary up until her marriage, on March 23, 1948, to Bernard "Bernie" L. Norberg in Wilcox.  The couple was blessed with four children:  Kenneth, Mary L., Eugene, and Barbara.

Shirley was a member of Emmaus Evangelical Free Church, north of Funk.  She enjoyed playing the organ for the church, and teaching Sunday school and Bible school for many years.  Shirley served with the White Cross and served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the church, many times.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernie in September 2024; one son, Kenneth in infancy; brother:  Billie J. Jensen and wife, Louise; and brothers-in-law: Dean Lind; O rville Norberg at 12 years of age; and Loren Raymond Norberg and wife, Mina Belle.

Shirley is survived by her children:  daughters:  Mary L. Williams and husband, Larry of rural Funk; and Barbara Vercher and husband, Byron of Pineville, Louisiana; and son, Eugene Norberg and wife, Micki of rural Funk; six grandchildren:  Brooke Williams of Sunnyvale, California; Phil Williams and wife, Erin of Omaha, Nebraska; Angie Graddy and her husband, Paul of Funk; Carl Norberg of Kearney; Matt Graf and wife, Christina of Sulphur, Louisiana; and Jon Graf of Macon, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mae Lind of Holdrege; and extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Shirley's honor and kindly suggested to Christian Homes Care Community, Brookestone Home Health and Hospice, or the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church.
