Funeral Services for Stephen F. "Steve" Denton will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Paul Bauman and Murray Jones officiating. Following the traditional funeral cremation will take place and inurnment will be held at Deer Lodge, Montana.

Stephen Francis "Steve" Denton, 67 years of age, of Holdrege, (formerly of Deer Lodge, Montana) passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Steve was born December 14, 1943 at Deer Lodge, Montana, the youngest of two children born to Allen Norris and Frances Alta (Shipplet) Denton. He received his education in Powell County, Montana, graduating from Powell County High School with the class of 1962. He then pursued higher education at Montana State University in Bozeman, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Ag Business and Animal Science in 1968.

Steve served his country in the United States Army National Guard from December 27, 1961 and later transferred to the Air National Guard until his honorable discharge on January 17, 1968.

Following his education, Steve began a career in feedlot management, which he continued to be involved with until his passing.

On December 15, 1967, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Lorraine Martin and to this union two sons were born: John and Marty. The family made their home in Deer Lodge and several other communities until moving to Holdrege in 2003, where Steve was employed by McClymont's Feedyard.

Steve was a true cowboy at heart. He enjoyed roping, riding motorcycles and most of all spending time with his family, especially following his grandchildren's sporting events.

Besides his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Madeline Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Holdrege; two sons: John Denton and his wife, Dina of Bayard, Nebraska, Marty Denton and his wife, Tonya of Holdrege; two grandsons: Stephen Denton of Holdrege and Allen Denton of Bayard; one granddaughter, Bryan Denton of Holdrege; one sister, Susan Inman and her husband, John of Florence, Montana; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.
