Steven D Freeland

A funeral service for Steven Freeland will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Tom Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Industry Cemetery, rural Atlanta, Nebraska.

Steven Dennis Freeland, 69 years of age, of rural Atlanta, Nebraska, formerly of St. Francis, Kansas, died on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Arbor Care Center in Fullerton, Nebraska. Steve was born December 10, 1955, in Holdrege, the eldest of six children, born to Dennis "Punch" and Verlene (Schmidt) Freeland. He was raised on a farm south of Atlanta and attended Mascot Country School, Hendley Elementary School, and Holbrook High School. He later went to school to become an auctioneer.

Steve was united in marriage to Linda Martin and to this union; they were blessed with two sons:  Travis and Tyler.

Steve worked as an auctioneer and ranch hand for most of his life. He had a love for ranching and cattle and living the country life. He enjoyed rodeos and livestock auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew-in-law, Justin Fisher; and many extended family members.

Steve is survived by his sons:  Travis Freeland and his wife, Katie of Gretna, Nebraska; and Tyler Freeland and his wife, Kalei of Loomis, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Jada, Crew, and Taylor Freeland; and Harper and Marshall Freeland; his son's mother, Linda Freeland of Loomis; his siblings: Terry Freeland and his wife, Beverly of Atlanta; Mark Freeland and his wife, Patricia of Kearney; Dave Freeland and his wife, Diane of rural Oxford, Nebraska; Tami Peltier and her husband, Greg of Concordia, Kansas; and Julie Lindstrom and her husband, Bryan of rural Oxford; along with many extended relatives, including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

There will be no visitation or viewing the evening before the service.

A memorial has been established in Steve's honor and kindly suggested to the family for a later designation.
