Private Family Graveside Services and inurnment for Steven M. Upthagrove will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand, Nebraska with Reverend Tim Glendening officiating.
Steven Michael Upthagrove, 51 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand. He was born January 1, 1963 at Lexington, Nebraska, the eldest of four sons born to Marlin G. and Donna (DuPree) Upthagrove. He received his primary education and graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1981.
Steven was employed for numerous farmers in the area. Later he began working for surrounding CO-OP Elevators until his illness required him to retire.
Steven loved his apartment in Bertrand and also loved the many friendships made in Bertrand. He was especially fond of his kitty, Gato. He enjoyed working on antique vehicles, hunting, especially with his black powder rifles, fishing and camping.
Steven was blessed with three children: Jackie, Rose and Brandon. The many memories with his children and grandchildren will be forever cherished.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Marlin in 2009; and one grandson, Carson Moore in 2004.
Steven leaves to mourn his passing, his children: Jackie Sevdy and her husband, Coby of North Carolina, Rose Upthagrove and Kevin Waldher of Holdrege, Nebraska and Brandon Upthagrove of Greybull, Wyoming; three grandchildren: Samuel Moore, Hannah and Ethan Waldher; mother, Donna Upthagrove of Bertrand; three brothers: Brent Upthagrove and his wife, Diann of Holdrege, Todd Upthagrove of Kearney, Nebraska and Byron Upthagrove and Angie Herbert of Holdrege; several nieces, one nephew, aunts, uncles, many cousins, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. Steven's wish was for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Steven's honor and kindly suggested to the Bertrand Nursing Home.
