Paula "Sue" (Rohde) Moomey, age 69, of Holdrege, died on June 1, 2022, at the Linden Court nursing home in North Platte, Nebraska. Sue was born in Holdrege, on November 6, 1952, to Homer and Beulah "Aileen" Rohde of Eddyville, Nebraska. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Sumner-Eddyville-Miller (SEM) in Sumner, in 1971.
On June 2, 1972, Sue married her high school sweetheart, Tim Moomey, in Eddyville, and they lived in Kearney, Nebraska. In 1974, they moved to Central City, Nebraska, and in 1978, they moved to Holdrege, where they raised their two beloved daughters, Andrea and Daniele. Sue volunteered and organized many of the girls' activities and church programs as children. Tim and Sue often sang together for church, and they had the kids join them on stage at an early age. The family often sang together and provided music programs for churches in the area.
Tim and Sue volunteered as youth group leaders, caring for and supporting teens in their communities. Sue was also involved in leadership on a local and state level at First Baptist Church of Holdrege/American Baptist Churches of Nebraska and at Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Holdrege.
For most of her career in ministry, Sue worked at the Trinity Day Care Center as the Head Preschool Teacher. "Mrs. Sue" poured her heart into teaching foundational skills of academics, discipline, and respect to 4 and 5-year-olds. She modeled love and respect for God, children, fellow adults, and other cultures. She spent many hours praying for each child and working with the parents and grandparents of her students. The preschool families were treated to special Christmas and graduation programs each year.
Characterized by hospitality, faith, playfulness, and tender-loving-care, Sue had a gift for making people feel special. She took great delight in her grandchildren, creating memorable experiences with them and attending their activities. She was very proud of her whole family. The impact of her love for others will live on through her family, friends, students, and community.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Aileen Rohde; her parents-in-law, Bill and Doris Moomey; her brother, Tony Rohde; her sister-in-law Connie Rohde; and her brother-in-law Randy Shelden.
She is survived by her husband, Tim, her daughters Andrea (Aaron) Wenburg of North Platte; Daniele Moomey of Lincoln; and two grandchildren, Amelia and Grant Wenburg of North Platte; her brother, Lonnie Rohde of Lexington; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Randy (Sherrie) Moomey of Beaverton, Oregon; Rick (Kathy) Moomey of Sumner; Barb Shelden of Lincoln; and Dan (Jodee) Moomey of Omaha, Nebraska; she is also survived by many other family members, including numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved dog, Zoey.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm, with the family present in the Front Porch area of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Sue's honor and kindly suggested to the Legacy Christian Preschool or The Tassel Performing Arts Center in Holdrege.
