Suzanne Marie Strickland, 68 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at her home in Holdrege. She was born February 17, 1952, in Denver, Colorado, the eldest of three daughters born to Alfred B. Richmond, Jr. and Dorothy June (Ibsen) Richmond. Suzanne received her primary education from Deerfield, Kansas, and when her family moved to Holdrege, she continued her education and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1970. She then pursued higher education at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska, where she received her Bachelors in Arts Degree.  Suzanne taught elementary art class in Republican City Public Schools, and then was employed at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege as the activities director for many years. She then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where she received her certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and met the love of her life, Jim.

On May 25, 1985, she was united in marriage to James Lee "Jim" Strickland at the Danforth Chapel at the University of Kansas. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where Suzanne was employed as a customer service representative at the Cabela's call center in Kearney.

Suzanne was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. She enjoyed crafts, music, her flower garden, and being in the outdoors, especially watching butterflies. Suzanne loved her family; the time spent with her sisters, nieces and nephews brought great joy, love, and laughter to her life.

Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her grandparents: Alfred Richmond, Sr. and Ava Evelyn Richmond; and Emanuel Theodor and Nancy Mae (Husband) Ibsen; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marion C. and Ruth E. (Tatham) Strickland.

She leaves to celebrate her life;  her loving husband, Jim Strickland of Holdrege; two sisters: Brenda Michaud of Superior, Nebraska; and Debbie Dorn and her husband, Wendell of Franklin, Nebraska; eight nieces and nephews: Yulonda Randall and her husband, Jeremy; Gene Michaud, Jr.; Dustin Richmond and his wife, Millie; Charity Olson and her husband, James; Tessa Kahrs and her husband, Brent; Cody Dorn and his wife, Erica; Jasen Dorn; and Thomas Dorn and his wife, Nicole; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-law, Terry A. Strickland and his wife, Elishea of the Florida Keys; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family has chosen cremation.

A memorial has been established in Suzanne's honor, and kindly suggested to the American Heart Association.
