Theresa A. Bernstrauch

Funeral Services for Theresa A. Bernstrauch will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Theresa Ann Bernstrauch, 57 years of age, of Axtell, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at her home in Axtell, following a courageous battle with COPD. Theresa was born September 20, 1962, at Alma, Nebraska the eighth of nine children to Norman, Sr. and Christina (Barnes) Klein. She received her primary education from Axtell Community Schools and later received her GED from the Axtell Community School.

On March 2, 1979, Theresa was united in marriage to Richard Bernstrauch at the Courthouse at Norton, Kansas and to this union three children were born: Billy, Rebecca and Nathan. The family made their home in Axtell, where Theresa made a career out of cleaning the Community Building and School in Axtell.

Theresa was an avid couponer, camper, and she loved to visit with people. One time she opened her house to a group of strangers, gave them a bed a sleep in and fed them until the weather cleared and the roads became passable. But most of all Teresa enjoyed caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Rex Klein in infancy; Michael Klein; and Norman Klein, Jr.

Theresa leaves to celebrate her life, her husband, Richard Bernstrauch of Axtell; her three children: Billy Bernstrauch of Holdrege; Becky Bernstrauch of Axtell; Nathan Bernstrauch of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Saydi, Payton Jo, Bryce, and Kinzley; two sisters: Sandra Taylor and her husband, Melvin of Bloomington, Nebraska; and Cindy Klein of Holdrege; three brothers: Terry Klein of Kearney, Nebraska; Stephen Klein and his wife, Denise of Holdrege; and Donnie Klein of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Theresa's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
