Celebration of Life Services for Thomas G. Wylie will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Adrian, Michigan. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Thomas Gilkey Wylie, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 27, 2014, at his home in Holdrege. Tom was born on March 3, 1934 in Columbus, Ohio, the youngest of two children born to Rev. T. Thomas and Anna Dorothy (Lester) Wylie. He received his education at Kalamazoo Central Public High School and a Baccalaureate from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He also received a Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Divinity degree.

Tom helped families as a social worker in Chicago, Illinois. He taught World History and Political Science in Springfield, Michigan and in Red Cloud, Nebraska. Tom also served as an assistant minister at the United Methodist Church in Red Cloud, Nebraska.

Tom was married to Sarah Jane Arneson in 1969 and to this union one daughter, Jill was born.

Tom enjoyed reading, running in many road races and marathons and participating in many tennis tournaments. He also acted in and directed in plays as a member of the Prairie Players in Holdrege, where he made many friends. He loved his family and was in turn greatly loved by them. He enjoyed reading to his grandsons and trading jokes and trivia questions about musicals and movies with them. He appreciated the kindness and the welcoming spirit of the people of Holdrege.

He leaves to mourn his passing; his daughter; Jill Wylie-Sears and her husband, Dan Wylie-Sears of Allston, Massachusetts; two grandsons: Steve and Charlie of Allston; a sister, Lillis A. Gilmartin and her husband, Richard of Adrian, Michigan and their children: Jim Gilmartin and Amy (Gilmartin) Lusk and her husband, Don; and other extended family and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Tom's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Tom's honor and will be designated at a later date.
