Celebration of Life Services for Tim W. Anderson will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, following the services with military honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 in conjunction with the United States Naval Military Honors Team.
Timothy William Anderson, 68 years of age, of Plum Creek Canyon, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at his home west of Johnson Lake, following a brief illness. Tim was born May 16, 1949 at Holdrege, the eldest of four children born to Willard "Bud" Anderson and Elizabeth "Betty" (Gallagher) Anderson. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating Holdrege High School with the class of 1967. He then pursued higher education at the Kearney State College, and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Tim served in the United States Navy Seabees from November 22, 1968 until November 14, 1970. He served two tours in Vietnam, and then continued to serve in a reserve capacity until 1974.
On June 25, 1977, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Pollard in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and to this union, they were blessed with two children: Lindsey and Riley. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Tim worked alongside his father in the family business, W.F. Anderson Company, which was started in 1929 by his grandfather, William "Bill" Anderson. This was a multiple disciplinary construction company with 350 employees, which Tim served as President of the company from 1979 until 1985. He then became the Executive Vice President of the Holdrege Chamber of Commerce until 1990. He loved to promote Holdrege, and he was proud to have been a small part of increasing Chamber membership and bringing big name concerts to the Phelps County Fair. In 1990, Tim began a long-term career with Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District, where he served as the Public Relations Manager and functioned as the District registered lobbyist in Lincoln for more than 25 years. Following his retirement, he continued to be involved on a part-time basis with Central as a Public Relations Advisor until his passing. Throughout his career, Tim was passionate giving speeches, and communicating with the public regarding natural resource issues.
Tim's life was devoted to public service, he enjoyed serving on countless boards where he was always willing to give of himself to better a project, and promote economic development.
Tim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege. He was an advocate for water rights for the State of Nebraska, and was past member of the Nebraska Water Resources Association. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the Phelps County Development Corporation, the Holdrege Industrial Development Corporation, and the South Platte United Chambers of Commerce to name a few.
Tim enjoyed Nebraska football, life at Plum Creek, and most recently he loved the time spent with his granddaughter, Andie Jane, and was looking forward to another grandchild in November.
Besides his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Anderson, nephew, Brandon Anderson; and brother-in-law, Raymond Pollard.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his two children: Lindsey Anderson and her husband, Ryan Grieser of Milburn, Nebraska, and Riley Anderson of Elwood, Nebraska; one granddaughter, Andie Jane Grieser; life-long friend, and former wife, Dorothy Anderson of Holdrege; brother, Jeff Anderson and his wife, Terri of Solana Beach, California; sister, Beth Rager and her husband, Bob of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Teresa Anderson of Denver, Colorado; brothers-in-law: Irvin Pollard and his wife, Joan of Monument, Colorado; and Doug Pollard and his wife, Kathy of Taylor, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Tim's honor, and will be designated at a later date.
