A Celebration of Life Service for Todd L. Kaufman will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., CST at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with AseraCare Hospice Chaplain Holden Barry officiating.
An additional Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. the Mitchell Evangelical Free Church in Mitchell, Nebraska.
Todd Lee Kaufman, 62, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Holdrege, following a long battle with Hemochromatosis and Pancreatic Cancer. Todd was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on October 5, 1962, to Gary and Bonnie (Trowbridge) Kaufman of Minatare, Nebraska. He was raised in Minatare and graduated with the class of 1980. He pursued higher education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from UNMC in 1993.
On September 10, 1982, Todd was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Melody Billingsley. The couple were blessed with four children: Brian, Heather, Brett, and Braden. The family made their home in Gering, Nebraska. Todd worked as a Medical Technologist for the Gordon Memorial Hospital and Phelps Memorial Health Center, until his health forced his retirement in 2016.
Todd was a member of the Gering Fire Department for nine years, while he lived in the area, the NRA, and two amateur radio clubs, in Holdrege and Kearney, Nebraska. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gunsmithing, amateur radio, and coin collecting.
He was preceded in death by: his mother; father; uncles: Jim and Russ Trowbridge; his grandparents: Frances and Eugene Trowbridge; and Albert and Anna Kaufman; and brothers-in-law: Jim Billingsley and Bob Muhr.
Todd leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 42 years, Melody Kaufman of Holdrege; his four children: Brian (Kate) Kaufman of Springview, Nebraska; Heather Sytek of Oakfield, Wisconsin; Brett Kaufman of Mitchell, Nebraska; and Braden Kaufman of Broken Bow, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Ethan Horne of Filley, Nebraska; Stetson Kaufman of Valentine, Nebraska; Beau Kaufman of Springview, Nebraska; and Bailey Kaufman of Springview; sister, Tami (Tommy) Goddard of Crawford, Nebraska; brother, Trace (Mandy) Kaufman of Lubbock, Texas; half-sisters: Cindy (Mark) Tipton of Virginia; and Candie Kaufman; father-in-law, Vern Billingsley of Mitchell; mother-in-law, Cathy Teppert of Gering; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Deb (Rod) Heerten of Springview; Brenda Billingsley of Kearney; Brenda Muhr-LaBounty (David) of Mitchell; Katie (Sean) Reese of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Hope Billingsley of Mitchell; Robert (Sarah) Billingsley of Gering; Jennifer (Jeremy) Holthus of Hyannis, Nebraska; and Gary Cundall of Washington, D.C.; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, cousins, and friends.
A memorial books signing will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
