Celebration of Life Services for Todd A. Nutzman will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand, Nebraska with Pastor Matt Hacker officiating. Interment will be held following the services at the Immanuel Cemetery, north of Bertrand.
Todd Allan Nutzman, 51 years of age, of rural Smithfield, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Bryan Medical Center-East in Lincoln, Nebraska. Todd was born September 3, 1965 at Omaha, Nebraska, the eldest of two children of Donald A. and Colleen M. (Schleeter) Nutzman. He received his education from Bertrand Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1984. He then pursued higher education at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska, graduating in December of 1989 with a degree in Social Work.
Following his education, he focused his career on caring and skills training for the mentally and physically disabled. He worked at Mid-Nebraska Individual Services, Martin Luther Homes and the Bethpage Mission until his health problems caused him to no longer work full time. As his health permitted, Todd continued to work when able at the Immanuel Lutheran Church and assisted others who needed part-time care.
He was a past member of Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield, where he was baptized and confirmed. In recent years he was a loyal member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. When Todd was young, he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also received the honor of the Order of the Arrow.
Todd enjoyed all outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, skiing and yard work. He will be remembered for his selflessness to care for others and his giving spirit; but most of all his love for his family, especially his nephew and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Albert and Ella Schleeter and Maynard and Beulah Nutzman.
Todd leaves to mourn his passing; his parents: Donald and Colleen Nutzman of Bertrand; his sister, Jill Luther and her husband, Gale of Overton, Nebraska; nephew and nieces: William, Addison, and Emma Luther; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
