Verlaine Gay Forney, 55 years of age, of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska.  Verlaine was born on May 4, 1959 in Omaha, Nebraska and adopted at birth by Jay Dee and Darlene Verlaine (McLeland) Forney.  She spent most of her life in Kearney, Nebraska. She graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1978 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kearney.

Several years after the death of her parents, Verlaine was placed in a Mid-Nebraska group home in Oxford due to her handicap and health issues. She remained there until her death. Through MNIS, Verlaine worked in the workshop and did contract work in Oxford. She enjoyed her job there and made many friends.

Verlaine had a great love for shelved action figures! She had an extensive collection and favored all of them! Verlaine loved nothing better than to go shopping, especially with Susan.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing; her adopted brother, Les Forney of Shelton, Nebraska; her friend and guardian, Patricia Kier of Oxford; several aunts, uncles and cousins; along with her many friends and staff members at the Mid-Nebraska in Oxford.

There will be no visitation as cremation has been chosen.

A memorial has been established in Verlaine's honor and kindly suggested to MNIS in Oxford.
