Veronica L. Melvin

A funeral service for Veronica L. Melvin will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Steinbach officiating. Interment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska.

Veronica Lee Melvin, 63 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on September 18, 2022, at her home in Holdrege. Veronica was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on December 2, 1958, growing up the fourth of twelve siblings. Veronica was born to Joe and Louise (Harris) Brant. She received her GED in Sterling, Colorado.

On January 25, 1975, Veronica was united in marriage to Chris Melvin in DuQuoin, Illinois, and to this union, three daughters were born: Tina, Holli, and Tosha. Veronica also accepted Lannie Chapman as her own. The couple moved quite a bit while the kids were growing up but made Holdrege their home for the past several years. Veronica worked at Methodist Homes for 14 years.

Veronica was a sun worshiper and enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, planting flowers, shopping, listening to music, decorating her home, and playing pool, and the harmonica. She was very family oriented and her grandbabies were very important to her.

She was a member of North Park Assembly of God Church where she was active in the lady's church group.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Kieth Brant; Melvin Bunce; Del Bunce; two sisters: Cindy Bunce; Shally Bunce; and Brant twins that were born at rest.

Veronica is survived by her husband, Chris Melvin of Holdrege; four children: Tina Edwards and her husband, Corey of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Holli Graf and her wife, Lorena Foster of Kimball, Nebraska; Tosha Melvin of Kearney, Nebraska; Lannie Chapman of DuQuoin; six grandchildren: Christopher Edwards; Cj and Andrew Graf; Estreya Yanez; Randy Brink and his wife, Whitney; Haley Lynn Brink; two great-grandchildren: Payton and Easton Brink; two brothers: Joe Brant; Rick Bunce; two sisters: Debra Melvin; Elisia Shepard; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Veronica's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
