Mass of Christian Burial Service for Victor R. Zorrero will be conducted from the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paul Colling, officiating. Interment will be in the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
Victor Manuel Ricardo Zorrero, 68 years of age, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Victor was born August 5, 1940 at Guadalajara, Mexico, the third of four children of Victor Manuel Zorrero and Maria Elena De Le Torre-Zorrero. Victor received his education at Guadalajara, where he graduated from high school and then pursued higher education receiving his Masters Degree in Language.
Following his education, Victor moved to the United States, where he received his Citizenship and resided in North Hollywood, California. In 1981 he was united in marriage to Marie Elena Barrera and to this union three children were born: Zuerela, Dydra and Victor Ricardo Jr. In addition to these children, Victor also accepted Marie's daughter, Claudia as his own. The family made their home in California, where Victor studied his love of cooking and worked as a Professional Chef for several restaurants in the area. Later in years, Victor moved to Nebraska to be near his family. Victor resided in Lexington at Park Avenue Estates and due to his failing health began to make his home at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington in 2005.
Victor's hobby was his cooking. He also enjoyed going to the movie theatre and spending time with his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing his four children: Claudia Barajas and her husband, Saul of North Carolina, Zuerela Margritz and her husband, Thomas of Lexington, Dydra Zorrero of Grand Island, Nebraska and Ricky Zorrero of Eustis, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Saul Jr, Caprice, Tomas Antonio, Deanna, Tomas and Ellie; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
Visitation for Victor will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.
A Rosary will be held on Sunday, evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. The casket will also be open at the church prior to the Mass.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
