Graveside Memorial Services for Viola F. Loesch will be conducted from the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lana Dake officiating.

Viola Frances "Vi" Loesch, 92 years of age of Alma, Nebraska (formerly of Orleans) passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center in Alma. Vi was born June 4, 1921, the second of six children born to Vint and Hedwig (Zelazny) Torson in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. She was also baptized and confirmed in Cedar Rapids. As a young child, her family moved to Fullerton, Nebraska, where she received her education graduating from Fullerton High School with the class of 1940.

On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Francis Loesch at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. The couple made their home in Orleans, where they operated the Loesch's I.G.A. Store until their retirement.

Along with running the I.G.A. store, Vi also babysat in her home for what she recalled as, "about half the town of Orleans." She started babysitting to help parents out as it was hard to find daycare. At age of 86, Vi was still babysitting.

She enjoyed making quilts and embroidering tea towels. She was a previous member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans, the St. Mary's Altar Society and the Orleans Civic Club. In later years, she was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Orleans.

Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Loesch in 1988; her parents; two sisters: Frances Torson, Irene Knopik and her husband, Virgil; and one brother, Adam Torson and his wife, Shirley.

Vi leaves to mourn her passing her sister, Tootie Davidson and her husband, Wayne of Maxwell, Nebraska; one brother, Archie Torson and his wife, Delores of St. Edward, Nebraska; special friends: Sue Anne and Keith Roberts family; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Vi's honor and will be designated at a later date.
