Memorial Services for Violet E. Morrow will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow and Mr. Wayne Carlson officiating. Inurnment will be held in Charlotte, Michigan later this spring.
Violet Esther Morrow, 100 years of age, of Holdrege, formerly of Charlotte, Michigan, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Violet was born October 21, 1915 in Phillips, Nebraska, the fourth of eight children born to Elim and Tillie (Bjorklund) Youngberg. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska. She received her primary education and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1932. After teaching school, she attended Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois from 1935-1938. From 1939 to 1944, she worked with the Evangelical Mountain Mission in Eastern Kentucky. Violet pursued higher education and received her Master's Degree in Christian Education from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois in 1950.
Violet taught Release Time Bible classes in The Dalles, Oregon for two years. She later worked as the Dean of Women at Trinity International University in Deerfield.
In 1959 she was united in marriage to Rush T. Morrow.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Charlotte, participating in many leadership and mentoring endeavors.
Besides her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Rush T. Morrow; step-son, Mel Morrow; siblings: Evelyn Anderson and husband, Alvin, Mildred Rohland and husband, Richard, Robin Bernsinger Anderson, Pearl Palmer and husband, Joe and Lillian Youngberg, Grace Youngberg and Paul Youngberg in infancy; and nephew, Stanley Anderson.
Violet is survived by her step-son: R. Conrad Morrow and his wife Wendy of Scottsdale, Arizona; step-daughter-in-law, Arlene Morrow of Waterford, Michigan; granddaughters, Gaia Klass and her husband, Michael, Marilyn Morrow, Lynn Neideck; grandsons, David Morrow and his wife, Sharon and Brad Neideck and his wife, Wendy; brother, Harold Youngberg and his wife, Vivian of Wheaton, Illinois; nieces, Muriel Pearson and her husband, Norris of rural Holdrege and Shirley Anderson of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephew, Larry Bensinger and his wife, Christine of Boca Raton, Florida; and a host of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation as the family has honored Violet's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Violet's honor and will be designated at a later date.
