A funeral service for Violet M. Osborn will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr. officiating. An inurnment will be held at a later date, at the Grand Lake Cemetery in Grand Lake, Colorado.
Violet Marie Osborn, 78 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on August 7, 2025, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Violet was born in Denver, Colorado, on October 10, 1946. At 14 months, she was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Elmo and Opal Hodges. She received her education from Ralston Elementary School in Arvada, Colorado, Arvada Jr. High School, and Kepner Junior High School in Denver, and graduated from Morrison, Colorado, All-Girls School with the class of 1965.
Violet worked at retail and convenience stores as an Assistant Manager, advancing to Manager in Denver and Granby, Colorado.
In September 1988, Violet was united in marriage to Wesley Osborn. The couple made their home in Max, Nebraska.
Violet enjoyed fishing, camping, and simply being outdoors, especially in the mountains.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past member of The Red Hat Society.
Violet was preceded in death by her adoptive parents; her husband, Wesley Allen Osborn; son, Joseph Conover; and five adoptive brothers.
Violet is survived by four children: David Conover and his wife, Christy of Milliken, Colorado; Michael Conover and his family of Longmont, Colorado; Jestina Hart and her husband, Greg of Berthoud, Colorado; Jesse Swank III and his wife Alena of Colorado; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings: Deb Bishop; Chris Wagner; Delores Hofferbur; Patrick Hawks; Ruthie Rae Hawks; Dan Ludlum; Allen Ludlum; and Lawernce Hodges; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Violet's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Vi's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
