Funeral Services for Mrs. Jack (Violet) A. Wiser will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Mark Wagner, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Violet Ann Wiser, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Violet was born March 23, 1926 at Holdrege, the daughter of Antonia Anderson. She received her education at Holdrege.

Following her education, Violet was united in marriage to Jack J. Wiser on June 16, 1943 and to this union four children were born: Darrell, Karen, Katherine and Jimmie. The family made their home in Kearney until December of 1955. While in Kearney, Violet focused on raising their children. In 1958, the family returned to Holdrege. After the children were grown, Violet enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and was employed by the Phelps Memorial Health Center for seventeen years as the laundry supervisor. She then worked at Christian Homes in Holdrege until her retirement.

On July 16, 1994 she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. Violet was a very devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Holdrege. She loved reading her Bible and was a very tidy housekeeper. Violet always had a special place in her heart for children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her devoted work ethic will always be remembered.

She leaves to mourn her passing two sons: Darrell Wiser of Holdrege and Aurora, Colorado and Jimmie Wiser and his wife, Ann of rural Wilcox; one daughter, Katherine A. Chavez of Holdrege; five grandchildren: Jodi Carter and her husband, Pat of Ceresco, Nebraska, Michael Troy Wiser and his wife, Tiffany of Holdrege, Adrianna Fulmer and her husband, Scott of Holdrege, Joel Wiser and his wife, Sebina of Denver, Colorado and Jesse Ruso and her husband, John Marco of Lewisville, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Albers of Salina, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Karen Joyce Wiser in infancy.

Violet will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
