Memorial Services for Virginia I. Pritchard will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with Rev. Nancy Lambert, officiating. Inurnment will be held following the service at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Virginia Irene Pritchard, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. She was born on September 12, 1920 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Harold W. and Bessie E. (Snell) Carter. She grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri and received her education from the St. Joseph High School. On June 2, 1950 she was united in marriage to William Pritchard in Bentonville, Arkansas and to this union four children were born: Deborah, Barbara, Jill, and Jacqueline. The family moved to Holdrege in 1965, where Bill was employed by the First Security Bank and Virginia worked as a homemaker. In their later years, they traveled extensively until Bill passed away in 1994.
Virginia moved to Holdrege Memorial Homes in 2006, where she enjoyed interacting with fellow residents and staff.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, a past member of Entre Nous, and was a member of the Phelps Memorial Service League. She enjoyed volunteering throughout the community.
Virginia loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them; she also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Archie Carter; one sister, Mary Friley and one granddaughter, Alia Arram.
Virginia leaves to mourn her passing four daughters: Deborah Lerma and her husband, Jim of Holdrege, Barbara Arram and her husband, Essam of Kearney, NE, Jill Youngmark of Omaha, NE and Jacqueline McElvain of Sacramento, California; one son, Leonard H. Morris and his wife, Linda of Hagerman, Idaho; one step-daughter, Judy Brown and her husband, Larry of Omaha; grandchildren: Matthew Winkelmann and his wife, Michelle of Holdrege, Nadia (Arram) Saadi and her husband, Camil of Kearney, Hanny Arram and his wife, Courtney of Kearney, Tarik Arram of Kearney, Jennifer (Youngmark) Winters and her husband, Jason of Plainville, KS, Kimberly (Youngmark) Zeineddine and her husband, Wissam of Omaha, Adam McElvain and his wife, Courtney of Redding, CA, Will McElvain and his fiancé, Kristen Nystrom of Redding, Bambi Shippert of Kansas City, MO, Mike Morris of California, Jason Brown and his wife, Kim of Bloomfield, CO and Derek Brown and his wife, Lynn of Dillon, MT; as well as many loving great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Virginia's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in her memory and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes Foundation.
