Funeral Services for Wanda L. Ellis will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Sowden and Chaplin DeWane Dow officiating. After a traditional service, the family will honor Wanda's wish for cremation and inurnment will be held at a later date in the Oxford Cemetery.

Wanda Lea Ellis, 73 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Wanda was born November 9, 1938 in Couch, Missouri, the seventh of eight children born to Lewis Ray and Eureka (Richardson) Sullivan. She attended school in Oxford graduating with the Oxford High School class of 1956. She then attended Barnes Business School in Denver.

In May 1957 she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Ellis, Jr. and to this union four children were born: Julie, Jeffrey, Jill and John.

In 1965 she was the owner and operator of the Oxford Merchandise Center until she sold the business in 1976. She then worked at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege for 24 years until her retirement in 2001. After her retirement she worked part-time at the Oxford Library.

Wanda enjoyed crafts, reading and old movies. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford and the Birthday Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Glen, Curt and Richard Sullivan.

Wanda is survived by her children: Julie Seimer of Gothenburg, Jeffery Ellis and his wife, Jane of Holdrege, Jill Sutton and her husband, Blake of Holdrege, John Ellis of Oxford; seven grandchildren: Kia, Jeron and Jett Seimer, Jessica and Jordan Ellis and Jake and Joelle McGee; three sisters: Hazel Senn and her husband, Joe of Springfield, Missouri, Betty Fischer and her husband, DeWaine of Kearney, Nebraska, Carolyn Sturgeon and her husband, Jim of Olathe, Kansas; one brother: Ronald Sullivan and his wife, Jean of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Sullivan of Oregon, Ruth Sullivan of Springfield, Missouri and Geri Sullivan of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated to the Oxford Library or the Oxford First Baptist Church.
