Wanda F. Hale

Funeral Services for Wanda F. Hale will be conducted from the United Church of Christ in Thedford, Nebraska on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sunny Ridings officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Thedford, Nebraska.

Wanda Faye Hale, 68 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at her home in Holdrege. Wanda was born September 27, 1945 in Seneca, Nebraska, the sixth of eight children born to Sherman "Roy" and Lillian (Grammer) Smith. She received her education from Halsey Public Schools, where she graduated from Halsey High School with the class of 1966.

On April 1, 1967, she was united in marriage to Mr. Hale in Whitman, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Brian, Ben, Travis, Rebecca and Scot. The family made their home in Holdrege in 1982. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

Wanda enjoyed staying home with the children. She later worked as a housekeeper at the Tower Motel and Super 8 Motel in Holdrege.

Wanda enjoyed sewing and making crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed having coffee with the gals from work.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; brother, Ray Smith; and brother-in-law, Bill Lyons.

Wanda leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Rebecca Beisel and her husband, Robert of Funk, Nebraska; sons: Brian L. Hale of Holdrege, Nebraska, Ben Hale and his wife, Michelle of Smith Center, Kansas, Travis Hale of Holdrege, Scot Hale and his wife, Ashley of Holdrege; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Ginni Norick and her husband, Bill of Missoula, Montana, Joyce Lyons of Riverton, Wyoming, Sharon Snyder and her husband, Albert of Sandy, Oregon and Jean Clayton of North Carolina; brothers, Charlie Smith and his wife, Alice of Brownlee, Nebraska and Dale Smith and wife, Maxine of Allen, Nebraska; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established and kindly suggested to Wanda's family.
