Mass of Christian Burial Services for Wayne E. Delimont will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Father Jamie Hottovy as Celebrant. Rosary will be held prior to the Mass Services on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be held following the Mass in the Stamford Cemetery at Stamford, Nebraska.
Wayne E. Delimont, 92 years of age, of Hutchinson, Kansas, formerly of rural Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Wesley Towers Care Center in Hutchinson. He was born on May 6, 1924 in rural Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Edward Clarence and Mary Catherine (Coady) Delimont. He attended country school and then attended Stamford High School graduating with the class of 1941.
Wayne was proud to be a farmer his entire life.
On August 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Johanna Mary Dunlay and to this union, two daughters were born: Suzan and Barbara. The couple made their home in Stamford. In 2000, they retired and moved to Hutchinson, Kansas to be near their daughter, Barbara. Johanna passed away on April 14, 2007.
For most of his life, Wayne attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a church trustee and also a 4-H leader for many years.
Those who knew him best will remember Wayne for his love of family, his land, horses, dogs and pie.
Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna and two sisters.
Wayne is survived by his two daughters: Suzan Hisel and her husband, Neville of Ashby, Nebraska, Barbara Lilyhorn and her husband, Wendell of Hutchinson; four grandchildren: Lori Davis and her husband, Scott of Bingham, Nebraska, Amy Saunders and her husband, Dan of Lawrence, Kansas, Jesse Lilyhorn and his wife, Sara of Hutchinson, Tim Lacy and his wife, Julie of Bayard, Nebraska; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans.
A memorial has been established in Wayne's honor and kindly suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Linn Street, Orleans, Nebraska 68966 or Hospice and Homecare of Reno County, 1600 North Lorraine St., Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.
