Wayne "Zip" Zade

Funeral Services for Wayne E. "Zip" Zade will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Ferrarone officiating.  Burial will follow at the Orleans Cemetery, with military honors by the Orleans Harold Morin Post #184 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.

Wayne Earl "Zip" Zade, 69 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Harlan County Health Systems in Alma. Zip was born on July 10, 1949 at Hood River, Oregon, the fifth of six children born to Lester Floyd and Violet Irene (Mays) Zade. He attended grade school in both Oregon and Nebraska, and graduated from Orleans High School with the class of 1969. On October 8, 1969, he was inducted into the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and carried that experience with him for the rest of his life.

Following his honorable discharge on October 1, 1971, Zip worked as a machine operator and on the road gang for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 13 years. About 20 years ago, Wayne was working on a barn and fell from some scaffolding and shattered his foot. He never fully recovered from this accident.

Zip loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his fruit trees.

Zip was preceded in death by; his parents; his brother, Wallace "Wally" Zade; his sister, Lynda Larsen; and his nephew, John Larsen, Jr.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his two children: Tyler Zade and his wife, Carrie; and Schehera Zade, both of Indianola, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Charles, Amelia and Osiris Zade; three sisters: Wyona Koehler of Holdrege, Nebraska; Pat Pohl and her husband, Jerry of Aurora, Nebraska; and Marilyn Cuba and her husband, Junior of Glenvil, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Linda Zade of Stromsburg, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held prior to funeral services on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Wayne's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
