William "Wil" C. Swindell

Graveside Services for William C. "Wil" Swindell will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Kenton Birtell officiating.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services will be followed.  Wil's family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend Wil's services based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.  Wil's graveside service will be live-streamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home's Facebook page. William Carl "Wil" Swindell, 47 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at his home in Holdrege.  Wil was born December 22, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska and was adopted by his parents, William E. "Bill" Swindell and Janice M. (Hohner) Swindell in January of 1973 at 26 days old.

The family made their home in Holdrege, where Wil attended Holdrege Public Schools, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1991.  He then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.  Following his education, Wil remained in Lincoln for 11 years, where he was employed in a downtown jewelry shop.

In December of 2002, he returned to his roots in Holdrege and was employed at The Connection; Holdrege Market Place; Verizon; and in recent years at Becton Dickinson, in the molding department.

Wil had a personality that was magnetic to everyone he met.  He made friends easily, always had a smile on his face, and had kind words for everyone.  Wil was a caring and compassionate man who genuinely loved all his friends and family.  He had a big heart for everyone he knew and loved all animals, especially his cats. He enjoyed listening to music, and watching movies, especially Star Wars.  He loved to cook, and was fond of his family recipe of brownies.  Wil also enjoyed spending time eating out with his Mom on occasion.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. "Bill" Swindell on Oct. 9, 2001; and his grandparents: William "Edward" Swindell and Edith Swindell; and Gustav "Gus" Hohner and Esther (Hohner) Anderson.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his mother, Janice (Swindell) VonLoh and her husband, Jim Von Loh of Holdrege; along with a host of aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.  Face coverings will be required.

A memorial has been established in Wil's honor, and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Animal Shelter.
