Funeral Services for William A. "Bill" Elliott will be conducted from the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Bill Waterman, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
William Andrew Elliott, 44 years of age, of Funk, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2006 at his home in Funk following a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born April 17, 1962 at Alma, Nebraska, the son of Billy D. and Elsie "Faye" (Florom) Elliott. Bill was baptized and confirmed at Adullam Lutheran Church north of Bertrand. He received his education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1980. Following his education, Bill was employed by S & W Auto Parts in Holdrege in the shop and later moved into the parts department.
On June 16, 1984 he was united in marriage to Denise Kaye Samuelson at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand and to this union two sons were born: Andrew Michael and Shawn William. The family made their home in Holdrege until the family moved to their home in Funk in 1991. Bill was employed by Speedway Transportation as a parts man until October of 2000 when he went to work for Becton Dickinson in Holdrege in assembly until August of 2001. Bill then was employed in the parts department at Fairbanks International in Holdrege until retiring due to his failing health in March of 2006.
He loved fishing and camping, bowling, working on home improvement projects, enjoyed playing board games with the family and playing cards. Bill was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, the Funk Lions Club, the Town and Country Bowling League and past board member of the Funk Village Board.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Denise of Funk; two sons: Andrew Elliott of Omaha, Nebraska and his significant other, Tiffany Ackerman of Omaha and Shawn Elliott of Funk; father, Bill Elliott of Doniphan, Nebraska; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darryl and Karen Samuelson of Loomis, Nebraska; three sisters: Deb Hampton and her husband, Joel of Holdrege, Cindy Laird of Holdrege and Billinda Elliott of Ravenna, Nebraska; three brothers: Dan Slater of Holdrege, Pat Elliott of Seward, Nebraska and Jim Elliott of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Darren Samuelson and his wife, Marlynn of Bertrand, two sisters-in-law, DeAnna Bartruff of Loomis and Darla Knoble and her husband, Gary of Axtell, Nebraska and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Elliott and grandparents: Delbert and Lillie Florom and Clyde and Ruth Rhoades, and brother-in-law: Darwyn Samuelson.
Bill will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.
