William "Bill" Hosea

William "Bill" Irvin Hosea, 82, of Alma, Nebraska, (formerly of Commerce City, Colorado) passed away on September 29, 2014 at his home in Alma. Bill was born on August 4, 1932 in Phelps County, Nebraska, the        youngest of three children born to Harry and Ella Lillian (Peterson) Hosea. Billie, as he was called as a child, was a charter member of The Farm Project 4-H Club and participated in beef calf raising and showing. He received his education from Pleasant Hill Rural School District in Phillips County, Kansas through the eleventh grade. Then in 1948, he moved to Stamford, Nebraska to help his sister and brother-in-law on their farm.

In February of 1952, he was united in marriage to Adale Lans of Stamford and to this union four children were born.

In July of 1970, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Ann Harris from the area known as Goat Hill at Evans and Federal, south of Denver, Colorado. To this union three children were born.

In November of 1986, he was married toDoris Sallee of Lakewood, Colorado, where he welcomed her daughter into the family.

Through the years, Bill worked as a rancher in the Sandhills of Nebraska, also working in a tire factory in Denver and was a traveling construction worker during his working years. He was a very skilled carpenter and enjoyed tinkering in mechanics. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and also had a passion for smoking meats.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Harry Hosea; mother, Ella (Peterson) Hosea; daughter, Carol Fenton and sister, Anona Artz.

He is survived by his six children: Gloria Sherman of Keller, Texas; Frank Hosea of Sandy, Utah; Michel Hosea of Kearney, Nebraska, William "Andy" Hosea of Kearney, Kathy Lynn Hosea (aka Kathy Rue Alger Shelley) and Susan Hosea of Overton, Nebraska and step-daughter, Trina Sallee of Commerce City, Colorado; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Lubeck, of Alma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Bill's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Bill's honor and will be designated at a later date.
