Graveside Services for Jean Bibbey will be conducted from the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Buck Linton-Hendrick, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Wilma "Jean" Bibbey, 74 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney. Jean was born October 3, 1934 at Holdrege, the youngest of three children to Lawrence and Emma (Christensen) Murray. She received her education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1952. Jean then pursued higher education at Hastings College, where she focused her efforts on the Mary Lanning Nursing Program and received her degree as a registered nurse in 1955.

On July 20, 1960 she was united in marriage to James "Pat" Bibbey at Torrington, Wyoming and to this union three children were born: Dorothy, Carolyn and Larry. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Jean was employed by the Brewster Hospital and then the Phelps Memorial Health Center until 1968. On August 26, 1968, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat. Following the death of her husband, Jean's life was caring for her family, working as a homemaker and also provided day-care for many years.

She enjoyed quilting and her passion of genealogy was her hobby. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege.

She leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters: Dorothy Elsey and her husband, Wayne of Lincoln, Nebraska and Carolyn Pedersen of Holdrege; one son, Larry Bibbey and his wife, Christy of Minden, Nebraska; one stepdaughter, Patty Thomas and her husband, Jessie of Georgia; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister-in-law, JoAnn Murray of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Jean was preceded in death by her parents; stepson, Rodney Bibbey; brother, Donald Murray; and sister, Pauline Murray when she was 13 months old.

Jean will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
