A private family memorial service for Wilma R. Brummer will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, with Reverand Jan Gluth King officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.
Wilma Ruth Brummer, 97 years of age, of Holdrege, formerly of Wilcox, Nebraska passed away, on January 29, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Wilma was born in Holdrege on March 17, 1927, the fifth of seven children, born to William and Ruth (Black) Bryan. She was Baptized at the Ragan Methodist Church in Ragan, Nebraska. She received her primary education from Country School District #50 near Ragan and then attended and graduated from Ragan Public School in 1944.
On March 1, 1946, Wilma was united in marriage to Allen "Hap" John Brummer at Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege. God blessed his union with five sons: Richard, Bruce, Terry, Wayne, and Scott. The couple made their home near Ragan, Nebraska where Wilma taught school at West Sac for two years and then farmed with Hap full-time until her retirement. In 1979 the couple moved to Wilcox.
Wilma loved to golf and participated in leagues and tournaments when she could. She enjoyed playing softball in Ragan. Above all Wilma, loved to follow her son's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's sports and activities.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Hub-Bub club.
Wilma was preceded in death by; her parents; her husband, Hap Brummer in 2020; a son, Richard Allen Brummer in 1948; one grandson, Brett Allen Brummer in 2007; three brothers: George Bryan and his wife, Isla; Ward Bryan and his wife, Gloria; Chester Bryan and his wife, Trudy; two sisters: Thelma Ridenour and her husband, Charles; Louise Harms and her husband, Bill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cecil Guthrie; Lawerence Brummer; Minnie Witt; Dick Brummer; Sophie Uhlhorn; Elsie Stark; Ruby Rawson; Caroline Ludeke; Esther Ferdinand; and Dolores Banks.
Wilma is survived by her four sons: Bruce Brummer and his wife, Denise of Merna, Nebraska; Terry Brummer and his wife, Shelley of Lincoln, Nebraska; Wayne Brummer and his wife, Linda of Wilcox; and Scott Brummer and his wife, Rita of Wilcox; nine grandchildren: Dusty Maul and her husband, Tim; Kelly Jewett and her husband, Scott; Michael Brummer and his wife, Sydnee; Jacob Brummer and his wife, Kate; Jeff Brummer and his wife, Michaela; Brandi Larsen and her husband, Ryan; Hanna Vance and her husband, Josh; Jon Bienhoff and his wife Kacee; eight great-grandchildren: Megan Steinhauer and her husband, Drew; Kaitlyn Jewett; MacKenzie Jewett; Jaina Brummer; Josie Brummer; Jack Brummer; Lucy Brummer; Atticus Vance; Oliver Vance; and Chipper Brummer; two great-great-grandchildren: Remy and Maklyn Steinhauer; one sister, Donna Guthrie; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is honoring Wilma's wish for cremation, there will be no visitation or memorial book signing.
A memorial has been established in Wilma's honor and kindly suggested to the Wilcox Fire & Rescue.
