Memorial Graveside Services for Wilma B. (Schmale) Whisennand will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Dale Lambert officiating.

Wilma Bernice (Schmale) Whisennand, 85 years of age, of Colorado Springs, Colorado (formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska area), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Colorado Springs. She was born August 26, 1924 in Ragan, Nebraska the only child born to Will A. and Ella H. (Rademaker) Schmale. Soon after Wilma was born, her family moved to a farm close to Huntley, Nebraska where she attended school and graduated from Huntley High School with the class of 1943.

Wilma worked at the Naval Ammunitions Depot in Hastings, Nebraska during WWII and then held various accounting jobs.

On July 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Arthur Whisennand and to this union two children were born: Vicki and William "Bill". The family made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska and Wheaton, Illinois before retiring to Colorado Springs. Until the end, Wilma still maintained her faith in God and in life, always trying her best to express this faith by her sweet kindness to everyone she knew and met.

Wilma is survived by her loving husband, Arthur of 63 years; two children: Vicki McDarmont and her husband, Robert of Dallas, Texas, William Whisennand and his wife, Jennifer of Colorado Springs; two granddaughters; Stefanie (McDarmont) Parks and her husband, Michael of Denton, Texas, Haley Whisennand of Colorado Springs; great-grandson, Jackson Miller Parks; and other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wish for cremation and to be buried beside her parents.

A memorial has been established and kindly suggested to the American Heart Association.
