Mass of Christian Burial for Zoe M. Darner will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Thomas Lux officiating.  A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church.  Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege following the services.

Zoe Marie Darner, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Zoe was born on March 6, 1928 on a farm in Seward County, Nebraska, the only child born to Joseph and Rose Anna (Bolicek) Zavodny.  She received her primary education from Bee, Nebraska and in 1941, the family moved to Seward, where she graduated from Seward High School with the class of 1946.

After high school, Zoe was employed as a secretary at Protective Fire Insurance Company in Seward and later at Midwest Life Insurance Company in Lincoln, Nebraska. On December 29, 1949, Zoe was united in marriage to John Raymond "Jack" Darner at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lincoln. The couple made their home in Lincoln and Lexington, Nebraska, for a short time, later moving to Minden, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children: Jacquelyn, Rodney and Beverly, and she focused her efforts on raising the children.

In 1967, Zoe began working for the Minden Chamber of Commerce and the Minden office of Senator Carl Curtis. She later worked at the Coast to Coast Store and the Kearney County Community Hospital. In 1982, Zoe and Jack moved to Holdrege, where she began working for Family Medical Specialties in the Insurance and Billing Department. After 17 years, she retired in 2000.

While in Minden, she was an active member of the St. John's Catholic Church, the Pharmacy Association-Auxiliary and was s Charter Member of the TOP's Club.  Zoe was a faithful member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege and the Altar Society. She enjoyed going to Bible Study, cross stitching, crocheting and traveling to see family.

Zoe leaves to mourn her passing; her children: Sister Jacquelyn Darner of Waverly, Nebraska, Rodney Darner and his wife, Lis of Redwood City, California and Beverly Swaims and her husband, Mark of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five grandchildren: Renee Darner and Elisa Darner of San Francisco, California, Nina Darner of Chicago, Illinois, Brittany Hamilton of Portales, New Mexico and Benjamin Hamilton of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Coralyn Steel of Estes Park, Colorado, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Karen Beck of Arvada, Colorado; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack in 1984; son-in-law, William "Bill" Hamilton; and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Darner and Willis Steel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Zoe's honor and kindly suggested to the All Saints Catholic Church and School.
